NRHS MUSIC GROUPS PERFORM IN STATE FESTIVAL;

The Newfound Regional High School Band and Chorus recently participated in the New Hampshire Music Educators Association Large Group Evaluation Festival at Bow HS.  This is an annual festival sponsored by NHMEA that provides adjudication experiences for Bands, Choirs, and Orchestras from across the state.

The Festival represents the state standard by which music groups are evaluated against.  The groups must prepare three selections to be performed before a panel of judges, followed by a sight-reading performance of music that the groups have never seen before.

The Concert Band performance featured “Aria and Fugue” by Handel, Excepts from “The Firebird” by Stravinsky, and “Aventura” by James Swearingen.  The NRHS Chorus performed “Kyrie Eleison” by Schubert, “On My Own” from “Les Miserables” arranged by Ed Lojeski, and Purcell’s “Sound the Trumpet”.  Both the Band and the Chorus received ratings from the judges of “Proficient”

The students will now focus on end of the year music performances.  The Music Department Spring Concert will be held on May 11 in the NRHS auditorium, while shortly after, the students will travel to Jackson NJ to perform at the Showcase Music Festival.
